Food hygiene certificate.

I’m taking a course at college to gain a certificate in food hygiene, which will not only look good on my slightly expanding C.V. but will allow me to work somewhere as an assistant chef, as I have decided to head down that route of employment as well as web design.
You may know that I like to bake every now and then, but I also like to spend time in the kitchen, and not just for the eating part. As I have a very low budget I don’t really buy anything fancy to cook, so I have no specialty. Which is a shame.
I’m hoping the certificate opens a few doors, allowing me to gain some knowledge and motivation to create fancy dishes for not-so-fancy people.
The course is spread over three weeks; consisting of only three days; with three hours per evening, from 6pm until 9pm; beginning next Tuesday, 6th of May. As I sleep a lot this is suitable for me so I’m happeh.
I shall update with news as and when required.

I have managed to sit through the first session of this course, which wasn’t all that bad.
After the initial fiasco of finding the room, because they moved to the one next door, I had to endure the process of enrolling again.
So as of last Tuesday I am now officially a student again, woohoo!
We spent the lesson talking about bacteria, and how it gets everywhere.
The little buggers. Not sure what we’re doing next week, I forgot. The exam at the end is multiple choice, which basically makes it easy to pass and be on my way to assistant cheffing.
I don’t think we get to actually cook anything though.

Another update on this, I have sat through my second session of the course which wasn’t all that interesting as I almost fell asleep twice.
To spruce things up a bit we had a mock exam, to prepare us for next weeks main exam. This consisted of 30 multi-choice questions with a pass mark of 20. As it was mock I decided to set myself a base level of what I could achieve without reviewing answers, and netted 26/30, that could of been 29/30 with the reviewing.
So hopefully next week I do as well and get full marks.

To update on this I have now completed the short course and have sat through the exam.
There where a couple of tough questions that required thought, but the rest where common sense of which suited best.
It may take a few weeks for the results to come through, whether or not I receive a certificate will depend on how many answers where correct.
We won’t actually be told out pass marks, like xx/30, which is disappointing.
