Weblog Quotes

Reading through the GAME website as I sometimes do, I came across WET. For most games, I mostly read the description first; and then move on, but with this I decided to look at the website for it; and spent some time watching the videos.

The visual action reminds me slightly of Stranglehold, with the slow motion; points for kills; reticule targeting; and acrobatic type dives. Although a martial arts master isn’t all that acrobatic.

The last three videos on the site where trailers for the game, which I am yet to see on television. Out of the three, the final one is the funniest; and worth a silly YouTube embedment:

I have since added the game to my wish list, and will keep an eye on it after release. It might be slightly enjoyable.

Okay, I know I’m late to the party, and everyone has already gone home; but I feel like blogging. So there!

Over the past few weeks I have been playing the latest in the series of Grand Theft Auto games, and I’m disappointed. I’m all for advancements in technology and games, but when you start removing things that other people like; and work so well, it becomes an issue.

Yes, up-date the game engine; give those hex shape thingies rounded corners; enhance the colours; use sharper images; *insert more technical stuff here*; but don’t take away the original, and classic, game play. A handful of people complained about the Flying Rats, and the fact you gain practically nothing from shooting 200 of them. I have to agree; where are the stashes of weapons?

If the aim was to mirror realism, then where are the co-ordinated police roadblocks; the swapping of insurance details; the ability to find paid employment; the paying of bills; everything else that is real? It isn’t there because it isn’t realistic. It’s a game. So it should play like a game. Like the old games.

I’m one person who enjoys side-missions, as I hate completing something and never playing on it again. So why are there no paramedic missions; pizza deliveries; taxi drop-off’s (that count for something); bus drop-off’s; fire truck missions; buying businesses (vice city stories); the army on six stars; ice-cream deliveries; I’m missing a few, but you get the idea. Everything here is real, they are real jobs, people do them daily. I suppose if someone was causing enough destruction, and killing all your swat dudes, you would call the army in.

On top of the above, what’s with the character movement? Who the fudge walks like that?

I’m hoping, albeit not too much, that an up-date is sent out to add all of this back in. Somewhat a downloadable content package, for free; and optional since some people hate side-missions.

I have thus-far spent the past several hours reading through a handful of topics over at HNZ, in order to understand how the role playing game is played, and I’m more confused about what to do than how I feel after I’ve just woken up.

Okay, so maybe I didn’t have any sleep last night; and I somehow managed to watch rubbish on T.V until about 7am; and maybe my head hurts too much to actually read anything, but I’m in the mood to find out what an RP is; and how they are played.

It seems the sorting process will take place in September. That’s like, a long time away; like, forever!

Oh noes, I over-used the work like. Eeek. /me feels icky inside.

If I join this RP thingeh, I don’t particularly want to participate in an adult role; since I have no character; or back-story; or personal development; or skills; or experience; or .. you see where I’m going with this. I’m thinking starting at the beginning will be largely beneficial to my role playing; and the overall development of my character. Eee, look at me; I’m soo getting into this!

For the past few months I have been trying to purchase a copy of MoH: Airborne due to thoroughly enjoying the game the previous time I was on it. However, this isn’t as easy as one would dream (we haven’t quite made it to thinking yet); as the game is either out of stock; or just too highly priced where I live.

I tried to locate a copy on-line, but gave up since it meant actually looking for sites that would sell one; or registering on ones I did find.

I have an account with Game, as I have utilised the reward card since the day the Redcar branch opened several years ago. Sending an email to them came back negative. She wasn’t pregnant after all. Phew.

Wait, what!?

Quick, mention a game and side-track them.

In short, they don’t have stock orders for anything further than a week ahead. So they have no idea if a copy will arrive. The price currently loiters on my WishList at £14.98; which is a payable price. Heh, I actually want to give money away for once, and no-one is around to take it. :p

There are several other games on my WishList too, including; but not limited to:

• Wolverine: Un-Caged Edition;
• Assassins Creed 2 ¹;
• Saint Row 2 ²;
• and Max Payne 3 ¹

I remember back when games where half the price they are now. What’s with the mark-up eh?

I can only say wow!

Having just watched a game play video, I can only say wow!

This time around, there are new methods for eliminating the enemy, such as using the blade whilst sat on a bench; dragging someone into a cart of hay; grabbing a guard from a tower, whilst still hanging onto the wall, and pulling him over the edge; borrowing someone’s weapon to dispatch them ( before handing it back and saying thank-you, in the politest of ways ); and something really sexy, dual blades; meaning two kills at once.

The E3 trailer, coupled with the game play, looks immense; and places the sequel high above its predecessor, and in my view; above any other game set for release this year. ¹

I already have the game on my wish-list, but I can’t really afford to pre-order it; or buy it shortly after the release. I chose to gain my copy of the first game when I purchased my console, instead of CoD4, ² so I can always go back on that.

When I can spare the notes, I look forward to playing the new story-line; and look forward to any surprises hidden away inside. If there are any . . .

I’ve just spent some time re-downloading mission packs ¹ for the Condition Zero branch of Counter-Strike, which was no easy feat on its own; and I’ve just remembered how fun the game is, and how fast time can slip past ( it’s already after ten ).

I’m not overly keen on multi-player stuff for any type of game, so I do prefer to play the solo missions; all on my own and what-not.

Hopefully this time round I can actually complete something, since I usually became side-tracked with other items or projects etc. I still haven’t completed the deleted scenes package yet.

Hehe. I don’t know. It’s summer, maybe I’ll finally learn to finish projects and games I start . . .

As part of the Zathyus Communities Create a Game contest, I have begun to run a small poker challenge on the support board.

Now, I don’t actually know anything about poker; but this is a learning curve for me, as well as a new challenge; which I thrive upon.

The challenge is only in round one; currently sat at the second round of betting, after the flop. Being run on a forum means there will be delays; issues; slow turns; and other bug type stuff. But all of that is a part of the fun.

I’m not overly sure as to why I started the challenge, I just had the idea, and posted a topic.

Hopefully game play will start to even out as everyone finishes their exams; leaving education forever, of just for the summer. Things should become a lot more interesting as the rounds advance, and I ramp up the cost of the blinds.

The Zathyus Anniversary has come to an end after three weeks of celebrations, and it couldn’t have ended better.

First of all, the staff have done an awesome job organising the events and I wish to say thank you once more, so thank you!

Time for some of the best news now! Throughout the games we had the chance to earn points by participating in, and winning, the events. Some of the games, like Zathyus Trivia, gave us the opportunity to gain hundreds of points towards our totals. After three weeks of gaming I have managed to amass myself 869 points, which is a lot!

So much so that the next person only had 540. With a clear 329 point lead I was declared winner of the anniversary events. Woo!

Not only do I win bragging rights, but I have prizes from the staff, which include:

• A user group change; group icon; and coloured name for four weeks;
• Two months of ZetaBoards Premium, for free;
• 25,000 Ad Removal credits, for free;
• and a $25 gift card for threadless.com from my Boss Lady.

I’m slightly surprised I won, as I never thought I would. Especially by the margin that I did.

I want to once again say well done to the other winners, Tim and ElementalAlchemist, and DanT for winning the iPod Touch. Well done guys.

Now I have to decide who to pass the board related prizes on to.

Woooaaa, after tallying up the point totals I’ve come to realise I’m now in third place overall. :D

Yay, I’m good at stuff!

I’m somehow also second in the Zathyus Trivia, which is surprising since I barely know anything about what’s happened through the years. (I have had to do a lot of searching to find the answers I’ve gave).

The current question has me stumped though, as well as the random hidden trivia. St00pid trivias!

I’ll just have to try my hardest and remain at the top of the rankings. I wonder if I’ll still get my bonus 5 points for keeping score?

Over at InvisionFree/ZetaBoards Support I have been given the task of points keeper for the Anniversary Celebrations.

It’s an honor to be given the opportunity to be involved in the community at such a level, and would most likely be even better if I wasn’t also in it for the chance to reduce my months suspension by a couple of weeks, or in full, if Stephen allows.

For the next few days, to a week, I’m Hazels slave. It’s not as bad as you might think, I’m really enjoying the task and am really involved in it.

I’m also going to see if I can be an assistant in Deal With The Devil! for one of the games, as that would be fun. I doubt I’ll be allowed to be the devil though. Staff only perk I think.
