Shear Unluckiness!

Date: Saturday, September 06th 2008. Comments: 0 (View Entry)

Well, had my new car for three nights, which is all good in its own right, but . . .

. . . Thursday night, some idiots decided to smash the window!

Yea, you read it right. They smashed the driver side window!!!

No idea as to why, nothing was missing (nothing was actually in the car though). I guess they thought they could have it due to the key locks on the outside, but there are no buttons inside to unlock the doors as it has central locking.

Only way to get in is climb through the window or jimmy the door. :(

Cost me £40 for a replacement, although Autoglass wanted £240. :o Shocking. Scrapyards are now swexi!

Entry Up-dated: Monday, June 29th; 2009

Turns out there are locks on the insides of the doors. Still have no idea why the window was smashed; possibly someone being an idiot. :(

New Car!

Date: Wednesday, September 03rd 2008. Comments: 0 (View Entry)

Yay!

I’ve bought myself a Nissan Almera Ambition 1.4 :O

Finally, I have my own set of wheels. Only four weeks after passing my test, so it’s not a bad time frame.

The car, red in colour, came from my mams friends husband, who’s a mechanic, so that’s great stuff and the asking price was only £800.

Considering the condition of the vehicle, pretty damn good; the new brake calipers; the new exhaust; the general look of the car; the smooth running; the central locking and alarm; the cd player; and a set of (four, five’s a proper set though) alloys thrown in after a little inquiry it was a bargain.

It’s a nice car to run me about places I need to be. I doubt I’ll be doing any work to it, or adding anything on as I haven’t got a clue what to do, so for now it’s looking good.

I’ll have to decide when to put the alloys on. I was going to let it sit for a while without them and see what attention it gets, as alloys may attract un-wanted idiots. :right:

I shall see about getting some photo’s up some time, most likely won’t be for a while as I only have my phone camera. I also don’t want to look an idiot taking pictures. :shy:

Trying to set up the insurance on Monday was extremely stressful, and I was on the verge of not buying the car due to the trim (Ambition) bumping the premium up another £200. A standard model would have only set me back £745, I payed £942 for .. well, I don’t know really. Most likely it’s a boy-racer car. Tits! :r

All taxed and tested until March/April next year, irrespectively (swap the months for t&t).

I’ll need to get a petrol points card now, save up to get money off shopping.

Was planing on taking her out tonight, but I’m tired. :(

She needs a name too. I need my furry die!!!

Un-limited Pass.

Date: Sunday, August 03rd 2008. Comments: 0 (View Entry)

I have decided to splash out on an unlimited pass to the cinema. Yay! :D

This pass entitles me to watch as many movies as I wish for £12 per month, which, at four or more movies a month at student ticket prices of £5, will save me at least £8 a month.

Great.

I’ve already started my month with two movies today, Kung Fu Panda and X-Files: I Want To Believe.

I have to say I had high hopes for X-Files, but was disappointed with the story-line. Where where the aliens? The conspiracies? The truth being “out there”? The Mulder and Scully we know and love? Well ok, maybe Mulder and Scully where there, but the rest? Nope.

This movie is all about woman disappearing; a priest having visions; dogs barking; not giving up; some Russian dialect; and some questionable surgery. In short it’s an extended episode, that could have been a lot better if it wasn’t about .. well I won’t spoil it.

I’m not an “extreme” fan of the X-Files, but I went to watch this movie based off of what I had seen from the tv series. In my view it’s not drastic if you miss it, but for die-hard fans you may understand the story-line much more and enjoy it more. :)

Oh, we also received a free dvd that was swiftly hustled into a bag somewhere so I’m not actually sure which movie it is. This one or the first one.

Now, as for Kung Fu Hustle. This movie is great! With various funny moments throughout.

If you feel you have to borrow your niece or grandchild to go and see this don’t worry about it. The action/martial arts sequences are enough to keep you entertained; then you have comedy moments from Po the Panda, with the voice of Jack Black, who was the reason I went to see this movie in the first place. I’m glad I did.

If you get all mushy at animated death scenes, you know, with the conversation; the advice; the goodbye; the ‘what the f00k, your dying’ moment; then take a tissue and sniffle quietly. ;)

Watching the progression of Po go from slob to hero is something in itself. With food being both his problem for over-weight-ness and the solution to his training. The scene with the dumpling is one which a master of martial arts can be proud of. As well as a food guru, mmm dumplings.

*runs off to cook food*

There is a sense of predictability with the movie, with a non-hero type introduced; the hero types introduced; old and wise person has a vision; bad-guy lurks about a bit;1 non-hero type turns up randomly; hero-types rush off to save the day; hero-types loose; bad-guy returns; non-hero type kicks bad-guys behind, thus saving the day.

The story behind the animation is actually a good one. It sets thing up nicely. I recommend this movie to everyone. If not for the comedy then the martial arts. :ninja:

I wonder what movies next. You know, I haven’t managed to see The Dark Night yet. Hmm, I’ll drag someone next week.

1: There isn’t exactly any lurking, I just didn’t want to spoil the plot.

TV: Bingo Night Live.

Date: Saturday, June 07th 2008. Comments: 6 (View Entry)

On ITV.

I caught the end of this program on Wednesday last week (04/06/08) and for a free to play game it’s pretty good. I have registered to play and as long as I set up the game cards each night I don’t have to do anything else since an email is sent out if I’m lucky enough to win.

If I wish to watch the game as it’s played, some nifty javascript marks off the numbers, allowing me to sweat without missing them.
As with normal bingo there are prizes for a single line; two lines; and a full house, at £100; £200; and £1000 respectively. On top of this, if you have a full house within 32 numbers you win a golden jackpot of £25000, including the £1000 on top.

£26000 will buy me a brand spanking new car. :o A car and some extra monies for very little effort is excellent.

I’m not sure how long the game will go on but hopefully I’ll win something.

Latest purchasementalism.

Funny title I know but It’s late.

At around 4pm GMT time I headed in to my local game store and purchased myself a shiny new xbox 360. :O

Yes I know it’s old news and everyone has one, but I don’t care, I need to blog about something. Wasn’t too bad a buy, at £249.99 with free Assassins Creed (RRP £39.99 currently). I tried to have the choice of game changed for CoD4, but they wouldn’t go for it as the discount wouldn’t of worked, since I managed to buy the bundle a day after the offer ended. :umm:

I bought myself the premium console as you may have noticed from the price, so I now have a legible reason to stay in bed all day, playing games wirelessly. :D

The surprising thing is I haven’t actually switched the console on yet. It’s all plugged in and sat waiting, I just ended up watching CSI (new series) and Shameless (new series). I’m also moving into my new flat tomorrow, so the console will go back into the box! o_O

Oh well, at least I have something to look forward to opening .. again. xD

Due to the manufacture date of my console I should have the new 65nm ‘falcon’ chip installed. The guy in the shop seemed non-to-happy that I actually asked if it had the newer CPU. :right:

A pause in driving.

Date: Thursday, September 27th 2007. Comments: 0 (View Entry)

The last month has been a weired one for me. There has somehow been a lot of work to do lately, be it physical work on my placement or online work with my websites, which has managed to take over my life. :o
Due to this I haven’t had the chance to book in a driving lesson. On the practical test I eventually booked I messed up and failed on the ‘turn in the road’, which is a big disappointment.
I have decided to change my instructors and go with BSM like I was going to in the first place. Those guys and girls will do everything to get me through the practical test, knowing about my last one and the fact they are always fully booked and busy.

Not too sure when I will phone them up, may wait around a month when my placement has finished. That way there wont be specific times I need to choose.

I shall update when necessary, until then it’s back to work. :(

Theory bookage!

Date: Sunday, December 17th 2006. Comments: 0 (View Entry)

OMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!!

I’ve actually booked in my theory tests. :O

I can’t actually believe I got round to doing it, but I have so woo.

Had to do it online though, tried phoning them up and all I got was a st00pid automated robotic machine with less sense than a computer with a hard-drive failure. :right:

January the 3rd next year is the test date, at 1pm .. could of had later days but they where at 9am. :O .. Do you honestly think I’d be able to wake up for that time. :P

I’ve got to sit and hammer the hazard perception disk, the crappy one since the other still wont work. Paul said he’ll help me out with it as long as I book in, so hopefully I will get his laptop again. :umm:

Rrrr, hope I get somewhere from this, £21 odd is quite a bit of moneh!
