TV: Cook-along Live

Date: Friday, October 24th 2008. Comments: 0 (View Entry)

Gordon Ramsay’s back with a new series of Cookalong Live that promises to be bigger, funnier and tastier, and aims to teach the whole nation how to cook.

Our beloved Michelin Starred chef is back on tv for the next seven weeks, with Cookalong Live, prepping; cooking and serving a three course meal for four people.

This is something I would love to get involved with, but for tonight’s episode I haven’t got any ingredients. I also prefer to ‘watch first, do later’, instead of trying to do it whilst watching. If I was to cook along with everyone I’ll miss what was said to do and be like “what?, what do I do with this?” while a piece of meat flails about in my hand.

I have somehow managed to loose all of my videotapes, so I can’t record the episode to try later. (I don’t have tv that pauses when you turn away from it. :( ) What I will do is watch the show; see what happens; learn what to do; find the recipes; find the episode online; then do it during the week when I have a bit more time and can pause the episode. I don’t so much mind the 9pm cooking, in fact, I love cooking late. It feels awesome.

For those of you wanting to watch and/or take part, the series begins tonight (Friday 24th October 2008) at 9pm. This series is for UK viewers, but there are ones planned for the US and Australia.

Some information on the series; menus; recipes; and equipment can be found at the channel 4 website: http://www.channel4.com/food/on-tv/cookalong-live/

Anyone who is taking part, feel free to comment below about your experience with this weeks menu, and how easy it was for you. Chef or no Chef, shout up. :)

p.s. I don’t want replies stating that Chef Ramsay sucks. If you don’t like him or his shows don’t reply!

Well season two has now finished over here. Finally. What a boring; pointless; and dull waste of telly time. I myself had missed three or four episodes this season, but don’t really care to much.

I dare say if the writers strike hadn’t of taken place the story would have been a lot, if not just a bit, better. From the episodes I saw everything was being squashed together, making things move to fast but seem boring at the same time.

The only good thing to come from this season was the finale, with Syler “coming back”. We can’t deny we don’t like him, and in a way I at least want him to take over everyones abilities just to see what he is capable of. :shifty:
We now get the summer off to reflect on season one, and to forget season two ever existed.

Here’s to hoping season three, “Villains”, is a lot better.

Just watched an episode of SG1 earlier, I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve noticed one on tv.

As I only have the standard terrestrial channels there is no sky one to watch any episodes that may be on there, especially Atlantis.

Channel 4 tonight, or this morning technically, showed Reckoning (Part 1) which is from like season 8, so three years ago. :o
I should really update my telly box, I’ve missed/am missing/may never see again one of the greatest programs ever. *scours the inter-web for free episodes*

TV: Bingo Night Live.

On ITV.

I caught the end of this program on Wednesday last week (04/06/08) and for a free to play game it’s pretty good. I have registered to play and as long as I set up the game cards each night I don’t have to do anything else since an email is sent out if I’m lucky enough to win.

If I wish to watch the game as it’s played, some nifty javascript marks off the numbers, allowing me to sweat without missing them.
As with normal bingo there are prizes for a single line; two lines; and a full house, at £100; £200; and £1000 respectively. On top of this, if you have a full house within 32 numbers you win a golden jackpot of £25000, including the £1000 on top.

£26000 will buy me a brand spanking new car. :o A car and some extra monies for very little effort is excellent.

I’m not sure how long the game will go on but hopefully I’ll win something.
