Employment opportunity?

Or just a rude awakening?
I was first woken up by the girl*’ from BSM, who is sooooo sweet by the way
, asking for my license number. I gave it to her; she said thanks; I said ok; she said bye; I said bye; awww.
Now the second phone call, well apparently some company have my C.V, the old copy though, not the latest one, and wished to know if I was still interested in data entry; whether I had been employed since leaving college; and if I was employed now.
They’re going to keep me on file if anything comes along, so hopefully I will have myself another interview to go to, with the prospect of a job.
I am thinking of going back to college to study some cooking courses, to help become an assistant chef. I’m just waiting on a part-time prospectus to arrive*”, although I’d prefer to do full-time, just Michelle ordered the part-time because it would “affect my benefits”.
*’ I think her name is Laura. Could be wrong though.
*” I have a lot of things on delivery don’t I.
Food hygiene certificate.

I’m taking a course at college to gain a certificate in food hygiene, which will not only look good on my slightly expanding C.V. but will allow me to work somewhere as an assistant chef, as I have decided to head down that route of employment as well as web design.
You may know that I like to bake every now and then, but I also like to spend time in the kitchen, and not just for the eating part. As I have a very low budget I don’t really buy anything fancy to cook, so I have no specialty. Which is a shame.
I’m hoping the certificate opens a few doors, allowing me to gain some knowledge and motivation to create fancy dishes for not-so-fancy people.
The course is spread over three weeks; consisting of only three days; with three hours per evening, from 6pm until 9pm; beginning next Tuesday, 6th of May. As I sleep a lot this is suitable for me so I’m happeh.
I shall update with news as and when required.
Interview X.

I don’t quite believe it myself really, what happened was I actually managed to find myself a job interview to be a Web Designer/Developer.
I know, quick sit down! haha
It’s been really difficult to do since the entire field is not easy to stroll straight into. That’s why most people go freelance, but then it’s establishing a following that gets slightly difficult.
At 9am this morning (GMT, yes I’m still English) I made my way up to Darlington to Insight Media for what turned out to be a very brief “hi, how do you do? let us look at you” get-to-know-me chat. They need to narrow a list of 30 applicants down to three so hopefully I will get added to the short-list.
At one point I was asked to give my opinion on a website, one that had obviously been created to test what we knew, and I started to rattle off issues which prompted the second interviewer to say “yea, you’ve passed that” haha, and I hadn’t even viewed the source code; as it would most likely have been table based.
This was the most comfortable interview I have ever done, and there was a dog too, which I preceded to stroke.
I did mention I prefer cats though . . . we’ll have to see if I get asked back now.
I was asked to show the guys my own site, which I gladly accepted. Anything to advertise right? I instantly apologised for the under designed so-called-banner stuck at the top, that I need to change!
*makes a note somewhere*
I won’t be surprised if they decided to read this weblog, and see what I’m really like as the atmosphere in that room was more like a piss-up bbq at your mates, great to be in and your drunk! really chilled.
EDIT: Please note that I was in no way drunk! When reading that after publishing I just burst out laughing.
.. Sentence now corrected.
As a side note, I also applied for a job in a bakery baking stuffs. Yayyyy, me likes baking! The wage on that job is awesome.
No more placement.

I finally finished my work placement at PC2000 yesterday, as well as TNG. There will be no more 9am starts; no more phone calls asking where I am; no more tiredness; no more confusion about customers wanting this or that; no more boredom standing around instead of prodding about with peoples pc’s; in fact, there will be no more work this year.
Woo, I’m going to hibernate over Christmas, popping up briefly to go to the pub and to eat.
Ah, the lazeh life is so cool.
.. I need to find a job though, PC2000 won’t be taking me on now that they can get free staff from TNG. St00pid PC2000!
I’ll be wandering back in randomly just to be nosy, and I also want an external HDD for storage. Might go to PC Tech, teh rivals, for that though.
I’m going to try and get on to an adult learning course soon, that way I will get a qualification as well as learning from home or in the center. I hate learning off the web, it’s boring. I really want to do a course in php, boost my c.v a little more, as I now have a DreamWeaver8 certificate to add to it as well.
I would try college again but if the web design courses are the same as the University ones I’d rather not waste time, and there isn’t anything else I would like to do.
Hmm, they should really set you up for life while your still at school, or did I miss that class?
All together now.

“It needs to be over £10 to use your card.” said both me and Carl at exactly the same time. We thought it was funny.
Well that’s my blog for the week.
OMG I’m so bored!
Dinner time, cya.
I’m actually working!

Oh Em Gee! Oh Em Gee! Oh Em Gee!
I have managed to secure a placement through the TNG course that I’m currently doing through the JobCentre. I say doing, we basically sit around all day bored.
My first day was today (4th September), working in a computer shop. The same shop that I frequented a lot while my computer was poorly. It’s been an ok day, served quite a few people, got confused often as everyone seems to ask for printer inks .. meh!, it would help if I knew what makes there was to actually look for it.
.. I’ll get the hang of it though.
I’m in this “job” for the next six weeks, then my TNG course finishes and I’m sat at home bored again until I get shoved onto another course.
The only downside to a placement is the lack of wages!
I suppose it all counts towards work experience, since I don’t actually have any, and would look good on my C.V. I’m on this placement four days a week for six hours a time, with an hour for dinner. So I get to go home at 4pm, woo.
Ooh, on a different note, I start my Pitman Training in DreamWeaver tomorrow. So I have the morning off “work”.
Pitman Training.

I have recently decided to partake in a training course with Pitman Training. They’re a company that allows you to gain a diploma in a subject area you wish to learn, all in just a few short weeks.
I’ve opted for a DreamWeaver course to help me in looking for employment within the web design industry. For some reason they all seem adamant about using DW, even though it sucks. I dare say if I’d have ever used it to create my sites they wouldn’t look the same as they do through using notepad.
Over the next six weeks, a total of 22 hours, I’ll be lowering my standards to create a botched; badly coded; invalid; website. All for a qualification.
I’ll keep you posted on the progress. – On a lighter note I am quarter of the way complete with the updates to my web empire. The blog has been completed; the forum upgraded, with a lot still left to do; and the website at the halfway stage. I’m having trouble relocating the IF boards that the skins are on, so it will be a while before those are finished.
